You know, these home lifts, they ain’t just for them rich folks anymore. My neighbor, old Mrs. Smith, she got one put in last year, and it’s changed her life, I tell ya. She used to be stuck upstairs all the time, couldn’t get down to her garden no more. Now she’s zippin’ up and down like a young’un. So I got to thinkin’, maybe these things ain’t so bad after all. These home lift design fellas, they make all kinds.

They got all sorts of fancy ones, I reckon. Seen some pictures, they look like somethin’ outta them magazines. All glass and shiny metal. Bet them cost a fortune, though. But they got plain ones, too. Just a little box that goes up and down. That’s all you really need, ain’t it? Just to get from one floor to the other. My old knees ain’t what they used to be, and these stairs, they’re gettin’ steeper every day.

I saw in a book, these home lift design people, they say they can make ’em to fit your house. So if you got a big, fancy house, you can get a big, fancy lift. If you got a little house like mine, you can get a little one. Just gotta make sure it fits, I guess. Don’t want it takin’ up the whole living room.

• They even got ones with pretty lights inside.
• And some are wrapped with wood.
• Some are made of metal and glass.

Heard they got these newfangled ones now, with all sorts of buttons and gadgets. “Smart” they call ’em. Smart home lift design, I suppose. Probably can talk to ya and make ya a cup of tea. Don’t need all that, though. Just need somethin’ to get me up and down without breakin’ my neck. I heard from old Mrs. Johnson, these things is safe. They got all sorts of things to stop ’em from fallin’. I guess that’s important, especially for us old folks.

These modern home lifts are somethin’ else. They got all these new ways of doin’ things. Saves space, they say. Makes sense, I reckon. Don’t want a big clunky thing takin’ up half the house. And they can hook ’em up to your phone, or somethin’. So you can call the lift from your bedroom, I guess. Technology these days, it’s somethin’ else, ain’t it?

I remember when we didn’t even have runnin’ water in the house. Had to go out to the well, pump it up by hand. Now they got these home lifts that just glide up and down, smooth as butter. World’s changin’ fast, ain’t it? They got these things called “escalators” too. Like them movin’ stairs you see in them big stores. They can put them in your house, too, I heard. But them’s for fancy folks.

They got all kinds of ways to make these lifts look nice, too. Different colors, different materials. You can even get ’em with pictures on the inside. Like a little movin’ art gallery, I suppose. Don’t really need all that, but I guess some folks like it. Home lift design is a big deal, I guess. They said they use LED lights, bright and save energy. That’s good for the electricity bill, I reckon.

These home lift design fellas, they sure know how to make these things look nice. They can make ’em blend in with your house, so you don’t even notice ’em. Or they can make ’em stand out, like a piece of furniture. Guess it depends on what you like. Some people like them wood look, like I said. Makes it look all warm and cozy, I reckon. Like a little cabin on wheels, goin’ up and down your house.

My old house, it’s got these narrow stairs. Always worried about fallin’ down ’em, especially at night. One of these home lifts would sure make things easier. Wouldn’t have to worry about trippin’ and breakin’ a hip. These young folks, they don’t think about these things. But when you get older, you start thinkin’ about ’em a lot more.

I reckon a home lift is a good investment. Makes the house worth more, I suppose. And it makes it easier to live in, especially when you get older. They say they don’t cost as much as you’d think. Maybe I’ll look into it. Get one of them home lift design fellas to come out and give me a price. Might surprise myself.
